A vision for the 65th district
economic development,
education & job creation
Lyons supports policies that promote public-private partnerships, create good-paying jobs, and expand union-supported apprenticeships—ensuring working families share in California’s economic future. He advocates for job creation centered on trade schools, with an emphasis on STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics). This approach promotes workforce development and removes educational and cultural barriers by modernizing the industrial landscape.
affordable housing
He will fight for housing policies that reflect the realities of working-class residents, opposing overregulation and burdensome environmental laws that prevent families from affording homes near their places of work, either for ownership or rental.
public safety with fairness
Lyons supports reforms that make communities safer—without abandoning those most impacted by over-policing and systemic inequity. We cannot prosecute our way out of crime. It’s not the police who created the conditions that lead to crime. Police did not defund mental health services, nor did they ask for the authority to arrest the mentally ill. Likewise, police are not responsible for housing, health, education, or investment policies that have shaped underserved communities. We cannot expect police reform alone to address these systemic issues. We must adder eiss the medical and mental health needs of those most underserved.
environmental justice
LaMar champions clean energy and air quality initiatives that protect working-class neighborhoods—communities that are often the first and hardest hit by environmental harm.
